Jeremy Hansen: First Canadian Astronaut to Fly to the Moon

On April 13th, 2023, the Canadian Space Agency announced that Jeremy Hansen will be the first Canadian astronaut to travel to the moon. The mission is scheduled to take place in 2024, and Hansen will be a member of the Artemis III mission crew. This mission marks the first time humans have returned to the moon since 1972.

Hansen is a former Royal Canadian Air Force fighter pilot and has been an astronaut since 2009. He has participated in several missions to the International Space Station, but this mission is particularly significant for him and the Canadian space community. Hansen has been training for this mission for years, and he is excited to represent Canada on this historic mission.

The Artemis III mission will see the first woman land on the moon, as well as the first person of colour. The mission will also study the moon's surface and explore the potential for future human missions to establish a permanent lunar presence.
